Bio

Mariana Lafrance est une artiste visuelle et interdisciplinaire oeuvrant dans le nord de l'Ontario. Elle travaille en performance, dessin, textile, installation, photographie, vidéo, et à l'intersection de ceux-ci. Les thèmes d'appartenance, de lignes ancestrales, de relation, d'enjeux sociaux, de pouvoir et de territoire reviennent souvent dans son oeuvre.

Mariana a exposé en Ontario à la Galerie du nouvel-Ontario (Sudbury), le Centre national des arts (Ottawa), Gallery 44 (Toronto), et Le Labo (Toronto). Elle est recipiendaire de plusieurs bourses du Conseil des arts de l'Ontario, notament des programmes Artistes visuels émergeants (2011, 2016) et Arts du nord (2008, 2016). En 2008 a été publié son livre photographique La ville invisible / Site Unseen aux Éditions Prise de Parole.

Mariana Lafrance is a visual and interdisciplinary artist working in Northern Ontario. She works in performance, drawing, textiles, installation, photography, video, and at the intersections of these. Themes of belonging, ancestry, relationship, social issues, power and land/territory recur in her work.

Mariana has exhibited in Ontario at la Galerie du nouvel-Ontario (Sudbury), the National Arts Centre (Ottawa), Gallery 44 (Toronto), and le Labo (Toronto). She is the recipient of several grants from the Ontario Arts Council, most notably Visual Artist - Emerging (2011, 2016) and Northern Arts (2008, 2016). In 2008 she published a book of photos with Les Éditions Prise de Parole, entitled Site Unseen/La ville invisible.
